Kuta Beach

Kuta, Legian & Seminyak, Indonesia-8.718° 115.168°
Levels 1-4Typical size: 1–6 ft

A wide, sandy-bottomed beach break with shifting A-frame peaks along several kilometres of sand, running through Kuta, Legian and on towards Seminyak. The forgiving sand bottom and multiple peaks make it Bali's default learn-to-surf beach.

Beginner notes

The most beginner-friendly wave in south Bali: soft, sand-bottomed, lifeguarded in the main patrolled zone. Busy with lesson groups most of the day; the main hazard is other boards, not the wave itself.

Hazards

  • crowded lineup
  • rip currents between flags
  • beginner board traffic
