Full policy notes
Surfboards must be booked through Air Europa's sales offices or call center — NOT bookable online like other sports gear — and are not included in the free baggage allowance; a non-refundable surcharge applies (EUR 75 mainland Spain/Balearics, EUR 100 Canary Islands/Europe/Africa, EUR 150–180 long-haul). Maximum linear size (sum of length + width + height) is 250 cm; standard sports-baggage weight is 23 kg, extendable to a 32 kg acceptance ceiling for an extra fee. Transport is explicitly subject to space availability on the flight, and the equipment must be packed as a single piece.
Watch out for
Watch out · Airline policy: Air Europa's 250 cm limit is a SUM of length + width + height (not board length alone) and includes the bag — a boxed/bagged board over roughly 6'6" can push the total over the cap. Surf gear can't be booked online and must be arranged by phone or at a sales office, and carriage is explicitly subject to available hold space, so it isn't guaranteed even when booked.
Watch out · Surfer report · July 2026: A 6'8" (203 cm) surfboard was refused at check-in as too big on a Bilbao (BIO) → Madrid (MAD) domestic flight.
