About this camp
Suits beginners and improving intermediates who want certified coaching without a packaged camp stay — Mono Loco is lessons, board rental, shuttles and guided sessions, not lodging. Founded in 2010 by three local surfers, instructors are internationally certified (BSA/ISA) and trained lifeguards, classes run in small groups, and a surf-theory session on safety and etiquette precedes a boat ride (included in the lesson price) out to the day's best beginner-appropriate wave — the site names Black Rock and Old Man's, both on Carenero, as the regulars. Multilingual (Spanish/English) instruction and rashguards are provided. The honest downside is that no lesson prices are published anywhere on the site — you have to message them to get a quote — and there is no accommodation, so it pairs with a separate place to stay in Bocas Town.
