Bluff Beach
A heavy, pounding shorebreak on the exposed outer coast of Isla Colón, compared by more than one guide to Supertubos — a thick barrel that stands up and detonates in very shallow water a few metres off dry sand. It takes the widest swell window of any break in Bocas, working on anything from northwest round to east, and it is genuinely tide-independent, which three separate sources state. The beach runs for several kilometres, so it rarely feels crowded even when it is working.

Find my Level →Beginner notes
The most dangerous name in the archipelago, because 'beach break' reads as safe and this is the opposite. The wave lands on a shallow sandbar within metres of the beach with enough force that broken boards are described as routine, and the drop is immediate with no shoulder to escape onto. Level 6 is the floor and that is not caution — every source rates it advanced-only, without exception. Watch it from the sand; Wizard Beach or the Carenero reefs are where to actually surf if you are below that.
