Paunch
The closest break to Bocas Town and the most written-about wave in the archipelago — a reef peak along the Bluff road with both a left and a right, where the left is the hollower wave and the one that barrels on a proper northeast swell. It works at all stages of the tide, which is unusual here and part of why it is the default session. December is the most consistent month. The same break is spelled Punch as often as Paunch, and one local account notes it becomes 'Punch' when it gets big — they are one wave, not two.

Not a beginner wave, despite one widely-copied travel listing calling it beginner-friendly — that claim traces to a single dataset repeated across several sites, and every other source contradicts it. The bottom is live coral and rock, urchins are specifically documented, and the inside section is shallow. Intermediates have a good time here from two to five feet; above that it becomes expert terrain with little room for error. Reef boots are recommended by three independent sources. Black Rock on Carenero is the honest alternative if you are still learning.
